Philadelphia’s most haunted - Part 2
ESP is a former state prison in the United States. It is located on Fairmount Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, just 5 blocks north of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Eastern State Penitentiary is such a experience! [O diva? For a day I experienced how it feels like a kakosa/bulaklak ng city jail/jailbird lol...]
But I want more than that! I wanted to be a berdugo! lols…
The prison stands today in a ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and a surprising, eerie beauty.
It’s vaulted, sky-lit cells held many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and “Scarface” Al Capone.
Anong sinabi ng selda ni Romeo Jalosjos dito? Selda si Hubert Webb may sinabi kaya dito? O isali na din natin ang selda ni exconvict “daw” na si Claudio Tehankee Jr.
Ekkkkkk, may battle of the selda ba dito? Bwehehehe… Just being real yo! []D [] []\/[] []D my selda? HAHAHA!!!
The infamous gangster Al Capone spent eight months in this cell in 1929. The Philadelphia Daily Ledger published reports of his stay being quite luxurious in lieu of his fellow inmates.
Chicago’s most famous mob boss spent eight months at Eastern State in 1929-1930. Arrested for carrying a concealed, deadly weapon this was Capone’s first prison sentence.
His time in Eastern was spent in luxury compared to the other inmates; Capone had oriental rugs, a cabinet radio, free time, and access to the Deputy Warden’s phone. [Obviously!]
I tot this thing only happens in the Islas delas Pelepenas…
This what money dollar-dollar-bill-yo can buy - Comfort!!!
In the Islas delas Pelepenas it buys both - comfort and justice anlufet! [HOY, Gloria pabalikin mo sa kulungan yang si Tehankee!] Pardon ka jan! Pucha crush ko pa naman si Maureen Haultman no!!! GrrrRrrRrrrr…
Of the approximately 100 inmates to escape from Eastern State, Leo Callahan is the only one that got away with it. Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill brought Callahan to ESP and a makeshift wooden ladder brought him out. In 1923 Callahan and five other inmates built a ladder that they used to scale the East wall of the penitentiary. His five accomplices were all eventually recaptured, but Callahan is still at large (though he would be over 100 years old).
To be continued…
